Highway 6 - "Your Road to the Country"
Right here in Central Iowa the USDA says there are 7,700 "farmers". Take out farms with gross income of under $100,000 and we find there are 700 "Big Farms". The rest? Rural Lifestyle folks that have had gross ag sales between $1,000 and $100,000. NOW...let's ad to that the 140,000 households on 2 - 200 acres that do not report "farm income". Get my point? The Rural Lifestyle Market is...HUGE. And that's what Highway 6 - Your Road to the Country is all about. Each Sunday morning at 8:00 Central Time we talk about the issues that impact living on a small farm or acreage. We talk about organics, sustainable agriculture, horses, milk goats, farmers markets, community supported agriculture and ideas for rural economic growth. Where can you hear it?
The sponsors of Highway 6 - Your Road to the Country not only get produced radio ads...they also are included in our Highway 6 Radio Internet Publication. Go ahead...click and check us out. And guests? We've had dozens of passionate people who love the rural lifestyle share our studio microphones and we've called on national figures who share our passion of all things rural. Who have shared with our listeners important information on a wide variety of topics from Rural Economic Development to Food Safety. Just for fun...here's just a sample of the faces who have been on the show and shared with us their rural lifestyle stories. Clockwise from the top left we've got Doug Bakker of Madison County Winery, Robin Pruisner from State Entomologist of Iowa, Scott Bush of Templeton Rye, Kate Kline of Kate Kline Design, Jim Clewell of Kubota/Capital City Equipment, Sharon Krause of Dalla Terra Ranch, Secretary of Agriculture for Iowa, Bill Northey and in the center Joe Leintz of the Iowa 4-H Foundation. And, that's just a handful... Highway 6 - Your Road to the Country - Live, rural, news talk that connects with the largest agricultural market in the United States...join us?
